Douglas is a four time Olivier-nominated actor and director.
Theatre includes: he recently returned from playing Cyrano de Bergerac on Broadway (Roundabout Theatre). For La Cage Aux Folles, his Broadway debut, he won the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics' Circle awards and in the West End the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
Other theatre includes: Inadmissible Evidence (Donmar Warehouse), Guys and Dolls (Piccadilly), Titus Andronicus (Globe), Dumb Show (Royal Court), The Winter's Tale (RSC), The Caretaker and Moonlight (Harold Pinter) and A Matter of Life and Death, Pericles, Blinded by the Sun, Betrayal and King Lear (NT).
For 10 years he worked almost exclusively with Harold Pinter as both actor and director and for over 20 years he was a council member of the National Youth Theatre.
Directing credits include: Torch Song Trilogy (Menier Chocolate Factory), Dimetos and Absurdia at Donmar Warehouse where he was associate director, Last Easter (Birmingham Rep), See How They Run (West End, UK tour) and Forest People (co-written for BBC2).
He has released two albums of his own compositions: Cowley Road Songs and Nightbus, winning the Stiles and Drewe 2012 Best New Song Award for Powercut from the musical Meantime, co-written with Aschlin Ditta.
Film includes: Robin Hood, Vanity Fair, Scenes of a Sexual Nature and still to be released Serena and Diana, in which he plays Paul Burrell.
